Anadolu Efes 'Flash Mob' / TBWA Istanbul / Agency Producer / 2009

Anadolu Efes is a Turkish professional basketball team based in Istanbul. Here we organised a flahmob ad as a means to support them during the Euroleage championships. The players were led to believe that they were attending a classical music concert.

Shooting a flash mob was quite different from an usual ad and owed a lot more in terms of production with a live broadcast. Overall a total of 750 people were included and all 450 audience members played a role within the mob. A full classical orchestra had to be assembled specificially just for this campaign and needed to have several rehearsals during the 2 months pre-production.

The original music was played by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Ömer Ahunbay, a Turkish composer. 25 hidden cameras placed around the concert hall and were tracked by a live broadcast vehicle outside. Almost all the shots used were taken from a single shot that the players were really unaware of.
